NEW YORK (Reuters) - Some 450,000 New Yorkers have quit smoking since 2002, reducing the smoking rate from 22 percent to a record low of 14 percent, city officials said on Thursday.
Some 35 percent of adult smokers have quit since 2002, including 100,000 from 2009 to 2010, Mayor Michael Bloomberg said. That leaves 850,000 adult New Yorkers who still smoke. More..
